Is Attaché 7 available now?

Yes. Attaché 7 was released in September 2006, and is already being used by thousands of Attaché users.

Is the move to Attaché 7 essential?

At some point, yes. Neither Business Partner nor Attaché Catapult will run on Microsoft’s new 64-bit operating system, Windows Vista.

Will Business Partner and Attaché Catapult be developed further?

Attaché 7 is the future development path of both products. Future changes due to legislative requirements as well as many new features will only be available in Attaché 7.

I am not planning to use Windows Vista. Can I still use Attaché 7?

Yes! Attaché 7 runs on all current Windows operating systems.

We only use Attaché Payroll. Do we need to move to Attaché 7?

Definitely. Attaché 7 is the future of your Attaché Payroll system. It includes specific payroll features such as new payment summaries, plus most Attaché 7 features apply to both Payroll and Accounts. Furthermore, legislative changes (such as the Australian Taxation Office’s upcoming Magnetic Media 8.0 and New Zealand’s KiwiSaver) will only be available in Attaché 7.

Does Attaché 7 require any special training or new hardware?

Attaché 7 can be installed seamlessly over your existing Business Partner or Attaché Catapult system. Your existing data will automatically roll across, your existing hardware and operating system should not need updating, and your staff will need minimal training. The advanced options in Attaché 7 can be addressed when you are ready.

Can the Complete System Incentive be taken later?

The Complete System Incentive is a special offer available to existing customers at the time Attaché 7 is installed. See page  5 for more information and talk to your consultant for details.

Does the new Attaché ExpressLink replace Attaché ODBC? What is the difference?

Attaché ExpressLink lets you open standard Attaché 7 reports in Microsoft Excel, Word and other programs. Attaché ODBC lets you create custom reports using your Attaché data.

Can we install Attaché 7 ourselves?

Your Attaché Consultant is essential for a smooth transition from Business Partner or Attaché Catapult to Attaché 7.
During the migration, your Attaché consultant will first carry out some essential tests to ensure that your system is ready for Attaché 7. Then, as well as installing Attaché 7, they will install Attaché 7 versions of tools such as Attaché Alex, Attaché ODBC and PowerLink.

And, if you’ve also taken advantage of the Complete System Incentive or Attaché Alex rebate, they may also install some new modules and productivity tools. Finally, they will test that your system is working properly and that you’re ready to go!

I already use Attaché Alex. Can I still get the Attaché Alex rebate when I move to Attaché 7?

Yes. If you already use Alex, the rebate will be applied when you start sending types of documents that you don’t already send.

Can I upgrade to Windows Vista and still continue running Business Partner or Attaché Catapult?

No. Once you upgrade to Windows Vista you will be unable to use Business Partner and Attaché Catapult, as these products were not designed for a 32/64-bit operating environment. If you have to move to Vista, you should arrange to have Attaché 7 installed.

Does Attaché 7 work with MS Terminal Services?

Yes. If your business operates across multiple locations or your staff travel frequently then you’ll find Terminal Services is an ideal wide area networking solution. Should you experience any difficulties running Attaché 7 in a Terminal Services environment, we recommend that you talk to your system administrator or IT service provider.

Is Attaché 7 compatible with the latest internet browsers?

Yes, Attaché 7 can be used with Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) and Firefox 2. If you use IE, we recommend that you follow Microsoft’s advice and upgrade to IE7 to ensure internet security.

Is there a recommended hardware configuration for Attaché 7?

It’s unlikely that you’ll need to update your hardware or operating system to run Attaché 7. However, to get the most from your Attaché 7 system we recommend the following minimum requirements:

Servers
One of the following systems:
• Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, XP or Small Business Server
• Terminal Server
• Novell Netware
• Citrix MetaFrame

1GHz or higher Pentium
1GB RAM (recommended minimum) / 512Mb RAM (minimum)
CD-ROM drive

The server will no doubt be used for other applications and these may affect the performance of your Attaché system. As a rule of thumb, use the fastest processor and as much RAM as possible.

Workstations

500MHz or higher Pentium
512Mb RAM (recommended minimum) / 128Mb RAM (minimum)

500MHz or higher Pentium
512Mb RAM (recommended minimum) / 128Mb RAM (minimum)
Mouse or similar pointing device
Laser or bubble-jet printer (Dot matrix printers, though not recommended, are acceptable for some functions.)
