About Attaché ODBC
There may be times when you want a personalised report that's
not one of the Attaché standard reports, or when you want
to use your Attaché data in other programs, such as MS Word
and Excel. It's not difficult once you know how, and it doesn't
require any specialist programming knowledge. All you need is Attaché ODBC
to access your data in other programs. Then you can create whatever
reports, mail merges and other types of documents you require,
using the programs that you already know.
Attaché ODBC is one of the range of Attaché productivity
tools that extend the capacity of your system. To find out more
talk to your consultant or contact
us.

System requirements and technical
information
Ensure that you have the following software installed before attempting
to install and run Attaché ODBC:
- Business Partner version 1.25.000 (Nov 2003) and Attaché Catapult
version 1.05.000 (Nov 2003) or later. Although data files from
earlier versions can be accessed via Attaché ODBC, some
data fields will not be available and the data reported by third-party
programs for some fields will not match the field headings.
- Microsoft Query - Attaché ODBC requires Microsoft Query
version 8.00e to run successfully. This is not the standard version
of Microsoft Query that was released with Microsoft Office 97.
If you are using MS Office 97 you will require an upgrade to
MS Office Service Release 2 (SR-2). You need to install SR-1
before you can install SR-2. To download Microsoft Query see
the Microsoft
website.
- Internet Explorer 4.01 (SP2) or above - Earlier versions of
IE 4.0 may not contain certain files that Attaché ODBC
help files require. To download the latest version of Internet
Explorer, see the Microsoft
website.
Some limitations apply to the use of Attaché ODBC:
- Read-only access is available to Attaché Catapult and
Business Partner data. Write-access to master files is available
with Attaché ODBC version 3.3.0.10 (February 2005) or
later.
- The Attaché ODBC DSN Administrator is designed to create
User DSNs - it does not create System DSNs. This means that individual
DSNs must be set up for each person logging on to a computer
with Attaché ODBC installed. This provides additional
security over your Attaché data files by not permitting
unauthorised access to restricted data.
- ODBC is a 32-bit application. Consequently, third party applications
which use 16-bit ODBC will not be able to see DSNs created with
Attaché ODBC.

Licensing Attaché ODBC
Attaché ODBC is protected against illegal copying. This protection requires
that the software be licensed at each individual workstation/computer/terminal.
This means you will be required to purchase one licence for each workstation/computer/terminal
on which you
plan to use Attaché ODBC.
After installing the software on a workstation/computer/terminal
you must register it with Attaché Software within 48 hours.
The system will prompt you regarding registration. If you choose
to not license
the software, your access will expire and you must remove the software.
If you are installing under Terminal Server, please contact
us about licensing.
Attaché ODBC licences are available through the Attaché Fast
Track Plan. Substantial discounts are available for additional
licences. Please talk to your Attaché consultant or contact
us.
Note: In the event of an application being made
for the re-issue of an ODBC licence (as a result of hardware replacement,
failure, loss or theft) a re-issue fee will apply.
