Help - Cookies

What are cookies?

A cookie is a piece of information that is transmitted between the server and your computer in order to track your browser through a particular site. Cookies must be enabled to gain access to this site. The cookies used on this site are temporary links between your browser and the server memory to establish each user session. These cookies are used to provide security for the website. Once your user session has ended, the cookie will be erased. A cookie is not an executable file so therefore cannot transmit any kind of virus information onto your PC.

Many debates have arisen in the Internet community regarding the security and privacy issues surrounding the use of cookies on websites. If you would like more detailed information about cookies, the W3C (the World Wide Web Consortium - an international body that sets protocols and standards for the web) has a FAQ article dealing with the issue.
