About Portable Document Format (PDF)

PDF allows for high quality printing and screen viewing of online documents. This article may be of help to those people who have not used PDF documents previously or are having difficulty downloading, saving and/or printing PDF documents.

Wherever you see this Adobe Acrobat icon displayed this means that the file available for download is a PDF document. You can choose to either view a PDF document online, or save the document to your hard drive.

Viewing a PDF document online

If you choose to view the document online, you will not have the option to save the document. The only option you will have is to print the document.

1. Left click on the link to the PDF document.
2. A new browser window will launch and the PDF document will open inside this window.
3. You can choose to print the document or to read the document on your screen.

Saving the PDF document

Most of the documents on this site are too large to be viewed online. These documents should be downloaded and saved to your hard drive for viewing offline.

1. Right click on the PDF link.
2. In Internet Explorer, choose Save Target As. In Netscape, choose Save Link As.
3. Choose to save the file to disk.
4. Navigate to the directory in which you wish to download the file, e.g. C:\Download
5. Click Save.

Viewing a saved PDF document

1. Once you have saved the PDF document to your hard drive, double click on the document in Windows Explorer to open it.
2. You can choose to print the document or to read the document on your screen.

Printing a PDF document

1. Click the print icon in the Acrobat Reader toolbar. The document will print to your default printer.
2. If you wish to change your print options before printing the document, choose File | Print.
