How long does it take to download an upgrade?
The following table indicates the approximate time required
to download files from the internet with various modems. These
times are applicable where the connection is "clean"
and the download is operating at maximum speed.

To put this into perspective, downloading a six disk upgrade
will take approximately 40 minutes in "perfect"
conditions on a standard 28.8 modem. The same download will
take approximately 21 minutes with a 56K modem.
This can be compared to faster internet technology, for example
Telstra's ADSL, where the same download could take a little
as 43 seconds (see table below).
