Update postcodes and tax scales from the web
You can now choose to update your postcodes and payroll tax scales from the Attaché website, by simply selecting the relevant menu option in Attaché 7.
Previously, to update postcodes and tax scales you needed to download the latest file from the website and then sign on to Attaché 7 to import the file. Although you can still choose to update using this method, if you have a high-speed broadband internet connection then you should find that an update from the web is faster and more convenient.
When you update from the web, the postcode file is downloaded and automatically imported in to Attaché 7 and is then available across all companies.
Payroll tax scales must be downloaded first and then imported in the usual way on a company-by-company basis. The software automatically selects the tax scales that match the country selected in the Country field in Payroll Options.
Update your postcodes from the web
- To update your postcodes from the web select Setups | Company | Postcodes | Update postcodes from the Web.
The software now connects to the Attaché website. Once a connection is made, the following prompt appears:
Do you wish to download and import the postcode file?
- Choose Yes to continue.
Once the file has been downloaded it is then automatically imported in to Attaché 7 and is available across all companies.
During the import, the software will update only those postcodes for which a matching location is found. If there is no matching location found for a particular postcode, the location will not be updated. Any new locations and postcodes will be added.
When the update is complete, a summary is displayed advising you of the number of postcodes that have been added, modified and read.
Update your payroll tax scales from the web
To update your payroll tax scales from the web, select Setups | Payroll | Tax Scales | Download Tax Scales from Web. The software now connects to the Attaché website. Once a connection is made, the following prompt appears:
Do you wish to download new tax scales from the Attaché website?
- Choose Yes to continue.
The software automatically selects the tax scales that match the country selected in the Country field in Payroll Options and downloads the file to your program folder.
An information message is displayed when the download is complete:
New tax scales have been successfully downloaded. Please run Import Tax Scales in each company to activate the new rates.
To import the tax scales:
a) Choose Setups | Payroll | Options | Payroll Options. Page Down to the second screen.
b) Attaché recognises that new tax scales are available and displays a message asking if you want to import them. Choose Yes.
c) The tax scales are imported into the company.
d) To check that the tax scales have updated properly, Page Down to the third screen of Payroll Options and check that the Effective for Payments Date field is set to the date that the tax scales come into
effect (do not change this date for any reason).
